Charlie Kaufman is a confused LA screenwriter overwhelmed by feelings of inadequacy, sexual frustration, self-loathing - and by the screenwriting ambitions of his freeloading twin brother Donald. While struggling to adapt "The Orchid Thief," his life spins from pathetic to bizarre. Or is it?

This film is shown in association with the April 24, 2010 program: Mirrors, Mirrors in the Mind: Self Reflection & Self-Absorption in the Films of Charlie Kaufman.

Film Objectives
  • Understand the problematics of aggression through the issue of sibling rivalry
  • Distinguish aspects of imaginary identifications from the work of desire
  • Articulate the role of creativity and its vicissitudes.
